Ombré Inspiration | Featured on Ruffled!!

Do you guys remember that shoot I did with all of the different colors, and the ombré, and the lovely dress that twirls in such a lovely way when twirling?

Well today I am incredibly happy to share that the shoot has been featured on the AMAZING wedding blog, Ruffled!!!

I can’t describe how excited I am. I simply can’t. There isn’t a word or combination of words I can type out that would convey to you how I’m feeling. Picture this – I am sitting here typing this….and then suddenly I HAVE to get out of my chair, do a CRAZY dance, and wrangle a fit of giggles….before I can continue writing. Phew. I’m exhausted already, but I DON’T even care – because I’m so thrilled. :)

I never could have done this without the talents of the amazing group of vendors who donated their time and creativity. A special thanks must go to Honey (Honeydew Events), whose impeccable sense of style was critical in making every element of this shoot fall together so seamlessly.

Why are you still here!? Go see the feature on Ruffled!!! (Then come back and see me! :)

Rachel + Grant + Evan (almost!)

See that smiling girl? That’s Rachel, one of my best friends in the whole word (she’s also my cousin! :), and now she is a pregnant with a little turtle named Evan.  :)

Isn’t she the cutest?

Evan will be here in just a few more short weeks!!! I know I’ve got nothing on Mommy and Daddy, but I love him so much already. :)

These two are going to make the most amazing parents. I’m so glad they are going first so I can learn from them and bombard them with questions when Ruben and I decided to have kids (…in about 50 years….haha just kidding, Mom!).

This is one of my favorites….all smiles. :)

Giggling is good. :)

Hugs are even better than giggles.

Rachel & Grant – I can’t wait to meet Evan. You three are amazing, and I hope you know how many people you’ve inspired. Love you so much. :)

Kristin + Kent | Engaged!

I met Kristin and Kent through Kristin’s sister, Lauren, who just got married in Disney this past January. How amazing it that two sisters are getting married in the same year? I’m so happy that I get to be there for both weddings. Whenever Ruben and I are around this group we feel like family.

Kristin and Kent’s engagement session started at their home in Maryland so we could play with their puppies, and then we headed over to Old Town Alexandria to switch things up a bit.

This is how I’d sum up the day…Laughter. Puppy dogs. Gorgeous light. Smiles.

Kristin and Kent – Thank you so much for trusting me with your engagement and wedding photography, and for treating me like family. I am so excited to see everyone again on your big day!! It will be here so soon! :)

Lauren + Brandon | Married! | Disney Destination Wedding

Lauren and Brandon did me a high honor by not only trusting me to shoot their engagement photos very early on in the life of my business, but they also decided to trust their wedding day photos to me….in DISNEY WORLD! I was absolutely floored when Lauren asked me if I’d fly to Orlando with them to capture their wedding day. Would I!? I didn’t even have to skip a beat before I told her how excited I was, and proceeded to book my flight. :) Florida in January? Yes, please. :)

January 16th was absolute perfection. Clear blue skies…not too hot…not too cold…and Lauren and Brandon had finally arrived at the wonderful world of Disney to tie knot and begin their lives together.

Lauren – your eyes are incredible!!

Brandon + Aiden…like father, like son.

Time to get married!!

The window at the end of the aisle was an actual magnifying glass!! When you stood at the back of the room the castle was big, but when you walked close to the window it appeared to get further and further away.  Crazy!

In Disney World, a Majordomo presents the rings during the ceremony.  The groom is typically kept in the dark about this surprise, and when the Best Man is unable to produce the rings, the groom momentarily thinks the rings are missing….which is why, in the left picture above, Brandon looks a little confused and Lauren is all smiles. :)

Married at last! Yay!!!

We managed to snag a couple photos before we lost the sun for the evening! We only had a few minutes, but I’d say that in those few minutes the sunset delivered.

I love this one…nothing but happiness.

The celebrating continued in one of Disney’s Grand Floridian magnificent ballrooms. :)

Brandon loves pirates…LOVES them, so Lauren surprised him with a Pirates of the Carribean themed groom’s cake.

Lauren & Brandon – I hope your fairy tale Disney wedding was everything you dreamed of, and hopefully these photos will help you relive each moment for years. I cannot thank you two enough for your trust, hospitality, and friendship.  See you in April for Kristin & Kent’s wedding (their engagements are coming soon!!!). Hugs!

…and they lived happily ever after…(I had to say it :)

Lucia + Nick | Married! | Chevy Chase, MD

Lucia is the younger sister of one of my best friends from college, Andrea – who has been one of my biggest supporters of my photography business :) – and when she told me that Lucia was going to be emailing me about wedding photography I was so happy (and totally danced a little jig). Lucia and I emailed back and forth for a while, and I got to chat with her and her family over an amazing, home-cooked Peruvian meal about all of the main in’s and out’s of wedding day photography. It feels like that was years ago, because time flies so fast!! Before I knew it, Lucia and Nick’s wedding day had arrived!

Lucia and Nick tied the knot on January 14, 2012 – one of the few extremely chilly winter days we’ve had this year. Everything was absolutely gorgeous.

This is a J. Crew dress! It was stunning.

My dear friend, Andrea, fixing up Lucia’s hair. :)

This is Inés, the youngest of the three sister. Ines is filled with boundless amounts of energy and smiles. I simply adore her, and this entire family.

Limo ride! :)

Meanwhile, the boys were relaxing and jamming on the guitar…

Wait, what??? Haha! Boys are so strange. I love it!

The GQ model face is hard. Don’t laugh!!

Lucia totally looks like a movie star getting out of her limo.

Married!!!!!

Sunlight & Sisters. :)

Inés made the same ribbon wands for the exit that I had at my wedding! :)

Congratulations Lucia and Nick!!!! Your wedding was AWESOME. Thanks for letting me be a part of it. :)

New LOGO!!!

Hey everyone!

Feast your eyes upon my NEW LOGO!!! I have been holding on to this for months, hoping to wait until my full website redesign (which is quite the undertaking!) was ready, but my excitement finally got the better of me! So here it is! Full of colors! Every color of the rainbow. :) I love it!

The blog will see some more design TLC in the coming days and weeks, so please pardon the “construction” while I tweak this rainbow-filled blog into perfection!

Good-bye glowing rainbow lights…you were such a marvelous logo for almost a whole year. You shan’t be forgotten!

What do you all think??? Don’t leave me wondering too long!! :)

Marnie + Ja | Married! | Keswick Vineyards | Charlottesville, VA

This wedding has been a long time coming!! Marnie and Ja were married back in October, but we were keeping the photos under wraps so that she could surprise her family. :) I’m so happy to finally be able to share these photos with you all because this wedding was unbelievable!

It was planned and styled by the incredibly talented ladies of Fete Studio and they did an amazing job capturing Marnie & Ja’s personalities. My absolute favorite detail was the amazing bright blue ceremony doors, but ohhh there were so many others too, you just wait and see!

The whole day was full of laughter, smiles, and great food & wine. Even the weather couldn’t stay gloomy.  What started off as an unseasonably chilly and wet fall day eventually transformed into bright, sunny, and crisp fall day.  Everything was lovely, and I’m so happy I was a part of it.

Enjoy the photos and leave the newly weds some love! :)

Here comes the sun!! :)

Yay!! Married!!! :)

The sun decided to come out to play for good right at sunset. YAY for gorgeous light!! :)

These vintage chairs are the coolest chairs in existence. I call them “boinger chairs” hehe.

Sperry tents…they are magnificent@

Sometimes a super simple cake makes a huge statement.  I want a barrel to put things on in my house!

The shot on the left is Ruben’s perspective of the cake cutting. One of my favorite things about working with him (other than the fact that he is my husband and best friend) is how great he is a capturing an event from a completely different angle than me. His shot on the left is one of my favorites from the day.  Thanks, Rubes! :)

Marnie surprised Ja by having a fry truck show up a little way into the reception.  It was pretty cold, so having some hot fries with chili and jalapenos piled on top was perfect.

Marnie & Ja – Thank you for trusting your wedding day photos to me. Working with the two of you, and all of the other amazing vendors you chose was so lovely. I hope you’re enjoying every little moment of married life. :)
